Abstract
1) It is pointed out that the confusion between the velocity v in the classical and relativistic Doppler formulae and the recession velocity v* in cosmology may be partly due to their being indistinguishable at the limit of small z. 2)A rigorous derivation of the formula for the redshift of a superluminal jet, 1 + z jet = (1 + z source)(1 + z Doppler), is given.
