Abstract

The optical conductivity σ(ω) and photoemission spectra in high T c copper oxides are examined by diagonalizing exactly the three-band and single-band Hubbard Hamiltonians of finite size clusters. The calculated results are compared with the experimental ones. The origin of the mid-infrared absorption in σ(ω) is also discussed by using two-dimensional single-band Hubbard model.
