Abstract

The article presents data from fragmentary research on the library repertoire of six families living in Podkarpacie. The author starts with literary education in the family in relation to the place of residence, level of education, etc. She draws attention to the important problems of popularising the act of reading high literature, including poetry, the number of volumes and the genres found in the examined libraries. The methodology of pedagogical research (interview, analysis of documents) was applied. The main purpose of the investigation was to create an image of a home library of the study participants. In addition to the analysis of the book collection, the research entailed family members and finding out how important the culture-forming function of books and literature is for each of them.
