Abstract

This article has the scope of analysing the domestic violence phenomenon through a criminological lens. An important part of the analysis constitutes the identification of the risk factors contributing to domestic violence, as well as the assessment of gender as a key component in the determination of perpetrators and victims. At the same time, the authors seek to analyse the crime of “violence in the family” in the legislation of the Republic of Moldova in comparison with the prescriptions on domestic violence from the Istanbul Convention and the Proposal of Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on combating violence against women and domestic violence.
