Abstract

The aim of the study was to explore characteristics of the role of providing welfare services to employees of an organization. Most occupational welfare officers in Israel were interviewed for the study (N= 92). The main issues reported and discussed are: the domains of occupational welfare; the methods used by welfare officers; possible determinants of the variance among officers in the emphasis they put on certain domains or methods; and the relationships between this variance and officers' organizational power and job satisfaction. The findings have implications for the training of occupational welfare officers and for the operation of welfare services in occupational settings.
