Abstract

Domain structure evolution in congruent lithium niobate single crystals under multiple infrared laser pulse irradiation was studied. The structure of narrow domain rays appeared after the first pulse became denser with pulse number due to ray widening and intensive fingering, which led to increasing the domain walls density. The almost constant wall density in the central region of irradiated zone significantly increased near the zone edge. Increase in the initial crystal temperature led to decrease in the wall density. The obtained radial dependence of the wall density was attributed to computer simulated spatial distribution of the pyroelectric field.
