Abstract

We report on domain lattice FMR observations made on thin film specimens of magnetic garnet prepared by LPE. The resonance data were taken on (111) films over a frequency f range extending from 1 to 4 GHz. The applied magnetic field H was directed along [1̄10]. The specimens were set on a microstrip microwave transmission line, thus permitting concurrent observation of the domain lattice pattern from above. The input parameters needed to predict the positions of the two FMR modes obtaining for a bubble or stripe lattice were gathered from independent observations which included domain geometry data. The fit to our previously published theoretical expressions, in which the domain aspect ratios are taken into account, is reasonable. The observed FMR mode separations, which are as little as one-half of the predicted values, may be a more sensitive test of the theory.
