Abstract

Background and Aims: Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is often associated with mildly increased triglyceride levels, probably because remnant-like particles can also be catabolized by LDL receptor. Remnant-like particles cholesterol (RLP-C) has been associated with coronary artery disease in the general population. Few data exist regarding this issue in patients with FH. Aim: to evaluate RLP-C levels in severe hypercholesterolemic patients with clinical and genetic diagnosis for FH.
