Abstract

(Abstracted from Female Pelvic Med Reconstr Surg 2021;27:18–22) Symptoms in patients presenting with rectocele include constipation or outlet obstruction, incomplete evacuation, fecal incontinence, pressure, and occasional pelvic pain. The cornerstone of rectocele diagnosis is physical examination of rectocele; observing the displacement of the posterior vaginal wall on Valsalva is often diagnostic.
