Abstract
Minorities and underserved populations disproportionately experience adverse pregnancy outcomes (APO). The CDC’s Social Vulnerability Index (SVI) is a validated measure of area-level social vulnerability assigned to every US Census tract based on social factors. Higher SVI scores indicate greater area-level social vulnerability. We investigate the association between the SVI and a composite measure of APO, including preterm birth, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, stillbirth and small for gestational age in a diverse New York City (NYC) cohort.
