Abstract

In its long-term forecast, a US Department of Energy agency says that world oil consumption will grow by 1.8% a year from the current 78.6m to 119m barrels per day by 2025. However, the prospects for renewable energies do not look encouraging. Hydro and other renewable resources are forecast to increase only moderately, growing at 1.9% a year by 2025 — mostly due to the Three Gorges Dam project in China. This is a short news story only.
