Abstract

The present study states a set of premises which justifies the legitimacy and the opportunity for exploring this particular subject. There are analysed various interpretations of the concept of competence both at the level of author definitions and within official documents. There is proposed an integrative model of competence. There is formulated a set of research competences (professional and transversal) for the doctoral programmes of studies in the social-humanistic field. There are succinctly examined different methodologies of competences development/defining. There is suggested a manner for operationalizing the research competences, by means of the revised methodology of the National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education developed in Romania. In the end, there are presented some perspectives for the development of the research competences in the doctoral field.
