Abstract
This extended discographic study examines three historical periods in the development of New Orleans popular music since World War II. Illustrations of discovery (1946–56), dominance (1957–76), and decline (1977–2006) are explored in the context of song creation, national recognition, and artist continuity. The article concludes with a lengthy discography and bibliography.
