Abstract
ABSTRACT The existing literature lacks research on technology-seeking transnational alliances (TTAs) in emerging markets. Therefore, we examine whether TTAs can improve parent companies’ innovation quality. Results of analysis of a sample of listed Chinese firms over 2006–2020 show that TTAs significantly boost parent companies’ innovation quality. Further analyses reveal that this effect is realized through executive overseas experience (EOE) and domestic technology alliances (DTAs). Overall, our study provides strategic options for managers when selecting international investments.
