Abstract

AbstractDNA melting temperatures and renaturation rates have been determined for Me2Et2NBr and a series of RMe3NBr and REt3NBr solvents where R is a linear hydrocarbon chain. The point of independence of DNA melting temperature on base composition has been investigated for each solvent system. Renaturation rates are compared with those found in other concentrated salt solutions. Solvent mixtures which accelerate DNA renaturation have also been investigated.
