Abstract

Volga Bulgarian Turkic have been classified in the Bulgarian group of Turkic dialects. It was documented through tombstones dating back 13-14. centuries. These tombstones contain a limited amount of language material due to the limited content and lack of space. Despite all the limitations, it was possible to determine the system and features of this historical Turkic dialect. In this study, the ordinal numbers in the Volga Bulgar inscriptions were examined and the suffixes involved in the derivation of these numbers were discussed. In addition to these, suffixes used in this function in Chuvash Turkic were also included.
