Abstract

Hand, foot and mouth disease was caused by many kinds of enterovirus, while enterovirus 71(EV71)and coxsackievirus A16(CA16)were prevalent causative agents of this disease, and each various subtypes of EV71 and CA16 were appear alternatively.Early diagnosis is significant for timely treatment and prognosis of children with hand, foot and mouth disease.Now, the laboratory detection methods of the etiology including virus isolation culture, reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, real-time polymerase chain reaction, reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, neutralization tests.This review will summarized the advancement in the research of the etiology and detection method of hand, foot and mouth disease.
