Abstract

Diurnal variations in plasma testosterone levels in stallions were d etermined by a radioimmunoassay technique. A mean concentration of plasma testosterone of 3.06 + or -1.27 ng/ml was found in animals sample d between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. 8 other stallions were sampled every 4 hours. The maximum mean plasma testosterone concentration was observed in samples obtained at 8:00 a.m. and the minimum at 8:00 p.m. The difference between minimum and maximum values was statistically significant (p less than .10). Diurnal variations in other species are noted.
