Abstract

AbstractFrom the general, time‐dependent, Boltzmann equation for a non‐degenerate electron (or hole) gas, the integral form of the distribution function of hot carriers is obtained. Assuming that the scattering of carriers is due mainly to optical modes, the distribution function in the “zero‐order approximation” is derived and numerical calculations performed. The distribution function of hot electrons is found to be strongly anisotropic with a plateau and small local minimum in the direction opposite to that of the electric field.
