Abstract

This note describes a simple and rapid immunodiffusion method used to distinguish Tautoga onitis (tautog) eggs from those of Tautogolabrus adspersus (cunner). These closely related species have eggs so similar in their early stages that positive identification was considered virtually impossible using previously established techniques.
