Abstract

We present a study of the H( n=1)+H( n=3) dissociation process in molecular hydrogen occurring after one-photon absorption from various rovibrational levels ( v′=19, 20; J′=0, 1) of the B 1 Σ + u (1sσ g)(2pσ u) state using (1+1′) resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI). The results provide further evidence for the importance of the excitation of the vibrational continua of singly excited Rydberg states after one-photon absorption from the B state.
