Abstract

The aim of this project is to brazing alumina ceramic to stainless steel 321L and investigating its strength and microstructure properties. The brazing process carried out at the temperature of 650 °C and 700 °C for 40 and 60 min in the controlled atmosphere furnace (tube furnace 1400 °C) using filler alloy (Ag45Cd) coated to a thickness of 100 nm by titanium via the Sputtering process. The mechanical and microstructural properties of join were observed by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Also, to evaluate mechanical properties, a shear test was performed in the section. Finally, to analyze fracture surfaces, X-ray diffraction analysis and SEM were used. The optimal temperature and time on this project were obtained at 700 °C and 60-min having shear bond strength of 98 MPa.
