Abstract

Nowadays, due to the global reach of technology, the Internet is the most commonly used medium of information. The purpose of this article is to illustrate what the European Union (EU) has done so far regarding the fight against dissemination of terrorist content through digital platforms. Both hard law and soft measures were adopted to set rules and obligations the service providers must comply with in order to prevent the dissemination of terrorist content through their services. The conclusion discusses the need to find a balance between the protection of fundamental rights and public security and includes some suggestions to improve existing rules. The methodology used includes documentary analysis and bibliographic research.
