Abstract

We have studied the dispersion of nonlinear surface polaritons (NLSP), propagating along the surface of an optical nonlinear dielectric, with regard to resonance with oscillations in the transition layer (thin film). We have shown that at resonance of these oscillations with nonlinear p-polarized NLSP in their spectrum, a gap is formed of width proportional to ( l λ ) 1 2 , just as in the linear case, where l is the thickness of the transition layer and λ is the wavelength of the NLSP. At resonance with s-polarized NLSP, a similar gap is formed in the curve ω( E 0), where E 0 is the intensity of the electric field on the surface.
