Abstract The authors consider some features of the (hypothetical) hot intergalactic plasma, in the framework of the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe. First, they obtain a relation between redshift and temperature of this gas which differs strongly from the nonrelativistic model. Then they reformulate the problem of the time delay of the electromagnetic waves traveling in the hot intergalactic plasma. The differences between relativistic and nonrelativistic calculations are emphasized.
