Abstract

On the basis of the high-resolution low-temperature photoluminescence spectra of LiYF4:Ho crystals we discuss spectral manifestations of disorder caused by random distribution of either the lithium isotopes or defects in the crystal lattice. A peculiar discrete spectral structure of a different nature was found in the magnetic-field-dependent spectra. We show that it arises due to mixing of the wave functions at the anticrossings of hyperfine levels in a magnetic field.
