Abstract

Using electron microscopy, the dislocation structure in annealed and in fatigued 12CrMo ferrite steel has been studied. Some types of low energy dislocation structure have been observed in the annealed steel. The dislocation structure in the annealed steel changes considerably under pulsating tensile stresses. Both low and high energy dislocation structures exist in the fatigued steel. The typical low energy dislocation structure is a hexagonal dislocation network.
