Abstract

Copper single crystals within initial orientations (110)[112], (110)[001], (113)[741], (100)[011] and (100)[001] were rolled up to 95% reduction. Optical and electron metallography as well as crystallographic texture measurements were performed. Strain distributions in slip systems were also completed. The dislocations formed banded structures. Directions of dislocation bands depended on the amount of deformation and on the distribution of strains in the slip planes. Deformation bands, transition bands and shear bands were formed in crystals with unstable orientations. For shear bands to occur the activation of new slip systems, non-coplanar with the formerly operating, as well as formation of the well-defined banded structure was require
