Abstract

The Holt relation d = Kϱ−1/2 between dislocation cell diameter d and average dislocation density ϵ is found to apply to Mo–50wt% Re when K = 4. Comparison with other published dislocation cell data shows that K does not remain constant, but varies from metal to metal. The effect of stacking fault energy on the K value is demonstrated to be significant.
