Abstract

The charge-conjugation and parity symmetries of the model Hamiltonian for polyacetylene as well as the selection rules implied by these symmetries for both radiative and nonradiative processes are discussed systematically. The relationship of the present discussion with previous considerations on this issue is clarified.
