Abstract
The gain properties of an axially slotted cylinder coated with a lossless dielectric layer and embedded in a lossless metamaterial have been studied analytically. It is studied that the gain pattern of this cylinder when embedded in Epsilon near-zero or double-near-zero metamaterial loses its directional characteristics as compared with the same cylinder embedded in the free space. It is also found that the dielectric coated slotted cylinder embedded in a single-negative metamaterial has a directive gain pattern as compared with the gain pattern of dielectric coated slotted cylinder when embedded in the free space background.
