Abstract
A transient infrared spectrum observed following the photolysis of gas phase W(CO) 6 in the presence of CO is shown to be due to internally excited W(CO) 6* formed by the two-body recombination of W(CO) 5 and CO. The internal excitation is shown to be predominantly vibrational.
