Abstract

We perform femtosecond time-resolved emission measurement in CuCl under the resonant excitation of excitons above Mott transition density. Emission from cold electron–hole plasma (EHP) gas appears with a delay time of few picoseconds. The EHP gas shows a continuous reduction of temperature and density until it reaches a state with temperature of 20 K and density of 5×10 18 cm −3 below the closed pack density of excitons but above that of biexcitons.
