Abstract

Diodorus of Sicily and the Sikels : history and/or memory of an «ethnos » and of its hero Douketios. The work of Diodorus Siculus is the only literary and historical evidence we possess on the revolt led by Ducetius in the mid-fifth century. If the facts are rather well known, recent studies suggest different interpretations depending on the sources that are retained. This analysis will consider another perspective of this episode that implies history and memory, two features of his work.
