Abstract

In the June Editorial, in illustrating a comment about the need to be certain that your disaster recovery back-up site is actually available, a quote was made from newspaper reports about a disaster the EDS computer centre in New Jersey suffered and the alleged nonavailability of the Comdisco back-up site. Due to the nature of the disaster, EDS required a longer term production environment, not the short term recovery site they had contracted for, and released a communication to customers and the press which inadvertently misrepresented Comdisco's role in their disaster recovery efforts. EDS has subsequently issued a statement to the effect that Comdisco had made fully available the contracted hot site and cold site back-up services and have continued to hold the sites available to EDS should they be required.
