Abstract

The article examines the problems of the political culture of Russians and the evolution of the images of the highest state and political figures personifying power. The focus is on political cults - the historical context of their formation and development. The images of political actors, which are both the product of political self-consciousness and the memory policy of the established political regime, are significant for the study of both political culture and public consciousness. The article analyzes the experience accumulated in Russian and world historiography of deconstruction of political cults in the history of Russia of the twentieth century and the interpretation of political symbols.
