Abstract

The reactions with H 2 of the Ir I cationic complexes [Ir(COD)L 2]ClO 4, [Ir 2μ-(L-L) 2 (COD) 2](ClO 4) 2, [Ir(COD)L 2L′]ClO 4 COD=1,5-cyclooctadiene, L and L-L = sulfur mono and bidentate donor ligand, respectively, L′ = Group Vb ligand and related complexes have been studied. Dihydroiridium cationic complexes containing mono and bidentate sulfur ligands have been isolated; these are of two types namely those containing only sulfur ligands and those containing both sulfur and Group Vb ligands. One dihydride carbonyl compound has also been isolated.
