Abstract

The synthesis and characterisation of dihalogeno(histamine)platinum(II) compounds is described. These compounds are Pt(Histamine) X 2 with X =  Cl, Br and I. The compounds are characterised by chemical analyses, X-ray powder diffraction, IR- and far-IR spectra and proton NMR spectra. The platinum ion in these compounds is coordinated in a square-planar geometry by two halogen anions in cis position, the -NH 2 group and a nitrogen atom of the imidazole ring of histamine.
