Abstract
Objective: Background: Health self-help is an established pillar in the care of those affected by rheumatic diseases. Digital offers are said to have a high potential for coping with the upcoming tasks. Methods: In a mix of methods approach, data was collected using five focus groups and onestandardized questionnaire (n=35) on the potential of digitization in health self-help. Results: Significant potential of digitization is seen in the area of location and time-independent provision of information and greater reach in addressing members and addressees. The possibility of data acquisition and data analysis is also mentioned. Anonymization tendencies and a lack of interpersonal exchange are described as negative potentials. Furthermore, the potential for the offers to encourage consumerism without strengthening exchange is described. The exclusion of people due to a lack of access to digital infrastructure is a risk. Conclusion: The tendencies towards digitization in self-help are to be judged ambivalently. Positive potentials (overcoming spatial and temporal restrictions and redefinition of the concept of presence) are to be named as well as negative potentials (consumption attitude and anonymization).
