Abstract

Digital transformation projects have become a phenomenon in organizations due to the benefits they bring. Along with this, sustainable development is a topic that has gained strength during the past years, to the point in which a positive sustainability impact can provide a good marketing advantage for institutions. Therefore, it is relevant to assess digital transformation projects for educational institutions, considering the sustainable impacts that might come with them. Such assessment can support organizations in the decision-making and provide a clear overview of the sustainability impacts they might entail. It can also help understand if a digital transformation can improve the quality of life of stakeholders. But, which tool is appropriate to assess a digital transformation project in educational institutions that considers sustainable development? And, which are the main criteria to consider when evaluating a digital transformation project from a sustainability point of view? The Triple Layered Business Model Canvas, a business model innovation tool, was identified as a suitable assessment tool. Afterwards, by analyzing an existing digital transformation project in education, the criteria were identified and placed on the canvas. It seeks to provide a holistic view of the criteria related to sustainable development in a digital transformation project in education.
