Abstract

Tourism is one among the highest growing and most vital economic sectors within the Asian countries. It is providing profit to both host communities also as destination areas. Recent technological advances offer considerable potential for the travel and tourism industry, and knowing the way to navigate this new landscape is crucial as consumers find innovative avenues online to be inspired and plan their trips. Additionally, the ever-increasing usage and accessibility of smartphones apps, wearable, and payment platforms also as new software only adds to the various challenges ahead of Asian countries. These all digital platforms are changing the travel landscape and giving new opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience. They can also provide new opportunities for rural entrepreneurs to enhance their market access and financial inclusion. However, many developing destinations have limited knowledge on the way to cash in of digital platforms and diminish the risks. Sometimes, thanks to lack of digital literacy and resources tourism that affected tons in rural areas. Digital technologies and platforms are troublemaking for tourism sector that operates from end to finish. Many low-income countries in Asia have potentially benefited from this digital transformation and so forth are in danger of being left at the rear if they fail to embrace this moment. Digital technologies and platforms can help develop economies by destination management and boost their competitiveness. This chapter gives the outline of digital platform and challenges faced by Asian countries in tourism sector and opportunities existing in tourism sector by using digital platforms.
