Abstract
A digital phase-sensitive detector was designed and built to circumvent the relatively slow, ∼1-ms response time of commercial lock-in amplifiers. A Z80A single-board computer with a suitably programmed EPROM and analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters is used. The response time, ∼40 μs, is primarily limited by the throughput of the analog-to-digital converter.
