Abstract

This study aims to overcome the limitations of teaching materials used by teachers and students in online learning while studying from home. Online learning will run well if it is supported by the availability of teaching materials that are tailored to the needs of the learning process. Therefore, this research is intended to develop digital teaching materials that can improve the quality of student learning outcomes, if learning is carried out online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the teaching materials containing character education in fiction texts is a novel. The method used in this research is research and development method. In developing teaching materials, expert research subjects and practitioners are used as validators for the feasibility of teaching materials. From this research, data is obtained in the form of moral values presented in the novel. These moral values can be developed into digital teaching materials as character education. Based on the results of interviews and validation questionnaires of material and technology experts, the feasibility of teaching materials was 83.08%, eligibility was 90.31%, and student responses in using digital novel teaching materials are scored 86.76%. The moral values of the novel can be developed as character education in digital novel text teaching materials that have the feasibility to be used in online learning during.
