Abstract

Today, some of the most popular forms of media representation are news websites, online platforms, newspapers, magazines and novels. At the same time, many people are increasingly using digital media. As a result, companies are finding new ways to leverage digital media in order to reach wider audiences. This article examines how modern Bulgarian novels were represented by digital media from 2012 to 2017, during which time, the popularity of contemporary Bulgarian novels increased phenomenally. The paper examines the bestseller book ratings by Helikon, Bulgaria’s largest bookstore chain, for bestselling novels written by Bulgarian authors, and compares the coverage of these novels on Bulgaria’s most widely read literature website called I read. These aspects create a relatively complete picture of digital media representation of Bulgarian novels in 2012–2017.
