Abstract

This research aims to describe the media used in learning speaking skills that can support increased students’ language activities at the Arabic Language Education Study Program at IAIN Langsa Aceh. The research used qualitative method, and data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The research subjects were the eight fifth semester students, namely four male and four female, as well as three lecturers of speaking courses at the Arabic Language Education study program at IAIN Langsa. Data were analyzed continuously until information reached its peak, consisting of several steps namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that the media used in learning speaking skills that can activate students in language activities are multi-media, including digital media such as language labs; electronic media like WhatsApp, Zoom, and Radio. Then non-digital media includes question cards and image media. Supporting media for improving students’ speaking activities in classroom are speech and language debate activities using WA and zoom, student-to-student discussion activities and uploading them on the Youtube, as well as student-faculty talk activities with Radio Cot Kala.
