Abstract
In this letter we report on the holographic storage and recovery of multiple high capacity (800 x 600, 480 kbit) data pages in thick (250 μm and 500 μm) photopolymer media. The lack of adequate storage materials has been one of the primary obstacles in the technical development of holographic data storage. Recent advances in photopolymer systems have focused attention on the viability of these materials for write-once-read-many-times holographic data storage1. Among the many challenges in using photopolymer materials, two of the most pressing are fabricating a medium that allows high capacity data pages to be pixel-matched through the material and designing a system that is dimensionally stable enough to allow the recording and high fidelity recovery of multiplexed digital data pages.
