Abstract

Nowadays, many Moroccan universities are working on digitizing their certifications. Digital certificates (e.g., official academic transcript, registration certificate, diploma) are secure by digital signatures provided by Barid eSign. To have a certificate, the student needs to send a request. After successful verification and validation by the administrator, the document desired will be signed by the university’s heads and sent to the student’s account. All signed documents are stored on a central server for authenticity verification. Herein, we overview the Moroccan universities’ system of digital certifications. We then discuss its benefits and challenges. Finally, we propose a decentralized digital certifications model based on blockchain technology.
