Abstract

The electrolyte-diffusion coefficients of NH 4Br and NaI at various concentrations were measured in 1% agar gel medium. The theoretical values of diffusion coefficients of the above electrolytes were also calculated by using Onsager-Fuoss theory. The observed deviations between the theoretical and experimental values of diffusion coefficients are interpreted in the light of obstruction and adsorption effects as well as water-gel and ion-ion interactions.
