Abstract

Deuteron elastic scattering on 12C, 24Mg, 27A1, 58Ni, 68Zn, 89Y, 120Sn and 208Pb has been studied in order to obtain optical-potential parameters. The inclusion of a vector spin-orbit potential is necessary for nuclei with A ≧ 89. Experimental angular distributions can also be well fitted without such a potential for light nuclei. The first 2 + levels of 12C, 56Ni, 68Zn and 120Sn and the first 3 − level of 12C are observed and the angular distribution of scattered deuterons analysed by DWBA. Experimental deformation parameters have been deduced. The 12C(d, p) 13C reaction has been studied. Experimental and calculated angular distributions to the first levels are compared.
