Abstract For an investigation of diffuse reflection from planetary atmospheres the H-functions for isotropic scattering have been determined for values of the albedo, o = 0.975, (0.005), 1.000. These may also be valuable in the study of absorption lines in stellar atmospheres. In addition the H-functions for Euler's anisotropic phase function, P (cos 9) = o[1 + x cos 0], have been determined for x = -1.0, (0.2), 1.0 for use in the planetary problem.
